The 1981 Best Picture Oscar winner finally received a widescreen home video version after 24 years. This new version is a significant improvement from previous releases, especially compared to TV airings and the original DVD. However, the print is not flawless as one might expect.

The second disc includes two documentaries featuring interviews with many members of the cast and crew. In just 25 minutes, viewers get a glimpse of the passion that went into the project, which was created by many first-time film talents. Director Hugh Hudson provides additional insight through a commentary, highlighting where dramatic license was used effectively, such as in Liddell's Olympic plight, and choosing to remain silent on other creative decisions.

A 19-minute reunion with two supporting actors, along with the director, writer, and cinematographer, takes place at producer David Putnam's house. They reminisce about the making of the film, offering viewers a more engaging experience than one might expect. Additionally, viewers get to see 11 minutes of deleted scenes, which offer valuable insights into character development and include a cricket scene that was featured in all cuts of the film except the American version.
